Port Vila Tours & Day Trips

Swimming holes, snorkelling, village islands and a volcano — every tour worth booking, compared.

Tours in Port Vila are run by small local companies and family operators, and they are the practical way to see Efate: the best swimming spots are 30–60 minutes out of town, on custom land, with little public transport. A tour bundles the driver, the entry fees and usually lunch.

Everything here is booked through GetYourGuide, which gives you instant confirmation, free cancellation on most options and a clear pickup point — at your hotel or, for many tours, at the cruise wharf. Prices are indicative “from” prices in euros; tap any card for the live price in your own currency.

A note on turtle encounters: several Efate tours include a stop where captive turtles are fed or handled. Conservation groups advise against handling sea turtles or keeping them in small tanks. If you would rather avoid it, ask the operator what the stop involves, skip that part, or choose a snorkelling tour where turtles are seen in the wild.

Port Vila tours: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do tours pick up from the cruise wharf?

Many do, and others meet in town a short ride away. The pickup point is shown on each listing — check it, and the finishing time, against your ship’s all-aboard time.

Are entry fees included?

Usually, for the sites named in the itinerary, but not always. Each listing spells out what is covered. Carry some vatu in cash regardless.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, reef shoes, sun protection, insect repellent, drinking water and cash in small notes. A dry bag is useful on boat trips.

Can I book on the day?

Often, outside cruise-ship days and school holidays. On days when a large ship is in port the popular tours sell out, so book ahead.

Are tours available in French or other languages?

Most guides work in English; many ni-Vanuatu also speak French. If you need a particular language, ask the operator through GetYourGuide before booking.
