PortVila.com is an independent travel guide covering Port Vila, the island of Efate and the islands most visitors combine with it — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there, whether you have six hours off a ship or two weeks.
What we cover
- How to get here, and how buses, taxis and boats work once you arrive.
- Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
- What to see, from Mele Cascades to Mount Yasur.
- Where to sleep, area by area.
- When to come, including cyclone season.
How we research
Tour details, ratings and prices come directly from GetYourGuide; accommodation listings from Trip.com. Journey times, fees and practical details are checked against operators, official sources and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Where a figure varies — bus fares, entry fees, flight schedules — we give a range and say so, rather than pretend to a precision that does not exist.
Vanuatu has been through a great deal recently: an airline collapse, a major earthquake and several cyclones. Things reopen, move and change. We flag what is uncertain and ask you to confirm anything critical before you rely on it.
How the site is funded
We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and link to Trip.com for accommodation. If you book through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There is no advertising, no sponsored content and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
